A little about me…
My name is Jason Fondren, and I’m a realist painter based in New York City. I have countless paintings in both private and public collections, and have graced the walls of numerous group and solo art shows. Though I have drawn and painted since early childhood, my formal artistic education began at the University of South Florida, came to focus at the Janus Collaborative School of Art, and finally rested at the Art Student’s League of New York. It has been a profound honor and privilege to study under such renowned artists as Dan Thompson, Michael Grimaldi, and Stephen Perkins among many others.
Why pet portraiture?
A lifelong love of animals and several pets of my own led to the establishment of a dog walking and pet care business to supplement the financial necessities of life as an artist. Though I had painted pet portraits for family in the past, the immense joy these pieces bring fully crystalized with every additional family I have been lucky enough to help out.
I have long felt that art is about more than communication, rather, it’s the connection brought by communication. Being able to offer my artistic training, experience, and love of animals as a conduit for this connection through paint is an opportunity that I would love to share with you.
